Singapore Ministry of Education, ITE and Polytechnics Delegation Visits VTC to Exchange Views on Education Development

From 6 to 8 July 2026, VTC received a 10-member delegation comprising representatives from Singapore Ministry of Education (MoE), the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), and Polytechnics.  The visit aimed to provide the delegation with a deeper understanding of VTC’s support framework for students with special educational needs (SEN), with a focus on transition support, career counselling, vocational training, and employment preparation.

 

The programme featured meetings with VTC senior management, an exchange session with the Student Counselling Team at IVE(Sha Tin) and the SEN Support Team at Youth College(Yeo Chei Man), and visits to Shine Skills Centre and our community partners.  Through these engagements, the delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of VTC’s whole-of-journey support model for SEN students, including staffing and caseload arrangements, collaboration with external agencies, and support available beyond the institutional setting.

 

The visit also facilitated in-depth discussion on career development, workplace readiness, vocational assessment, technical aids, and whole-school approaches to supporting SEN students.  It further provided a valuable platform to explore future collaboration and research in areas such as executive functioning skills for work readiness, the use of AI tools to support learners with different SEN needs, and upstream and downstream transition support.
 

The Executive Director of VTC welcomed the Singapore delegation, exchanged souvenirs, and took a group photo before the meeting.
The Singapore delegation visited training facilities at Shine Skills Centre to gain a better understanding of the support provided to people with disabilities.
The Singapore delegation met SEN Support Team at Youth College to learn more about the academic support provided to SEN students beyond the classrooms.
