VTC Participates in 2026 Higher Education Admission Fairs Across Multiple Cities to Promote VPAS

To help students and parents from the Chinese Mainland gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s high-quality Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and its diverse progression pathways, the Vocational Training Council (VTC), through its Mainland and International Affairs Office (MIAO), in collaboration with its Academic Disciplines and Vocational Professional Education Services (Shenzhen) Company Limited (VPES), participated in a series of higher education admission fairs across multiple cities in the Chinese Mainland. During these events, VTC introduced its programme offerings and relevant immigration arrangements to students interested in pursuing further studies in Hong Kong, with a focus on promoting the Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (VPAS). VPAS is a pilot scheme introduced by the HKSAR Government to attract non-local students enrolled in VPAS eligible VTC full-time Higher Diploma (two-year) programmes to remain in Hong Kong and work in industries relevant to their fields of study.

From 21 to 28 June, representatives from various VTC Academic Disciplines participated in the 2026 Recruitment and Student Admission Events in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Huizhou and Jiangmen. Together with other higher education institutions from across the country, VTC offered professional study and progression advice to Chinese Mainland students and parents. The events attracted approximately 100,000 students and parents. The strong turnout reflected Chinese Mainland students’ growing interest in Hong Kong’s higher education opportunities and diversified progression pathways.

During the events, representatives from the academic disciplines engaged in in-depth exchanges with students and parents, addressing over 4,000 enquiries regarding further studies. They provided detailed introductions to the curricula of VPAS eligible programmes, articulation pathways, and future development prospects. They also shared insights into the distinctive strengths of VPET in Hong Kong, as well as the development trends of related industries. These events helped students and parents in Chinese Mainland to plan their future education pathways, while further enhancing their understanding of VPAS and Vocational and Professional Education in Hong Kong.

Looking ahead, VTC will continue to participate in recruitment and promotional activities in the Chinese Mainland, consistently promoting VPAS and Higher Diploma programmes, and further strengthening communication and engagement with students, parents and the education sector there. These efforts aim to provide Chinese Mainland students aspiring to pursue further studies and career development in Hong Kong with clear, diverse and practical study pathways. At the same time, VTC will support students in understanding the development trends of professional education in Hong Kong, empowering Chinese Mainland students to enhance their professional skills and practical competencies in preparation for their future studies and career development.
