On 17 May 2024, representatives from the VTC participated in the "2024 Guangdong Vocational Education Week" organised by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, in Shaoguan, Guangdong. Over 350 vocational education professionals from the education bureaus of 21 cities across the province as well as more than 90 vocational and technical colleges attended and exchanged ideas. On this occasion, VTC promoted Hong Kong's Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) to various stakeholders.
At the "Guangdong Vocational Education Reform and Development Achievement Exhibition" held concurrently, the VTC showcased the distinctive features, diverse learning opportunities, and its development strategies in the Mainland. The VTC also introduced the "Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme" (VPAS). In addition to on-site introduction of the VPAS details, the VTC also displayed outstanding student works from various disciplines, including a device using rehabilitation technology for gait analysis and assisting walking, a smart wall light panel that can be remotely controlled via wireless technology through a smartphone, as well as innovative fashion design exhibits, all of which attracted keen interest from the attendees.
Through the exhibition and exchange, the VTC has established connections with vocational education representatives from across Guangdong province, laying a solid foundation for exploring deeper collaborations in the future. At the same time, this has helped to drive the continuous development of VPET in Guangdong, providing VTC students with more diverse learning opportunities, thereby promoting the joint progress of Hong Kong and the Mainland's vocational education endeavors.
