Visit by Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia

An eight-member delegation from Malaysia, including officials from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), its subsidiary, and representatives from Malaysian institution and organisation, visited IVE (Tsing Yi) on 19 November.

The visit was a great chance to exchange insights and experiences, particularly in benchmarking Hong Kong’s Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) against Malaysia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Discussions highlighted VTC Higher Diploma and In‑service Training programmes under the Engineering Discipline, as well as career pathways offered through the VTC Earn & Learn Scheme and Apprenticeship Training, which help the construction industry keep pace with new technologies and evolving needs.

The delegation also toured campus facilities, including Architectural Studio, Concrete and Structure Laboratory, and Innovative Construction Technology Centre, where they got a closer look at the latest developments in construction education and training in Hong Kong. The exchange not only strengthened ties between Hong Kong and Malaysia but also paved way for future collaboration in VPET.
