VTC Participating Teams Achieve Outstanding Results in the Inaugural Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macau Industry-Education Integration Technical Skills Innovation and Application Competition

The Inaugural Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macau Industry-Education Integration Technical Skills Innovation and Application Competition was held in Shenzhen on December 16. Jointly organised by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau, the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, the competition focused on three key areas: practical technology innovation, cultural creativity, and challenge-based projects. It attracted enthusiastic participation from young technical skills talents across Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau, with a total of 86 outstanding teams competing and exchanging expertise in the competition.

The Vocational Training Council (VTC), serving as one of the co-organisers, had 5 teams of talented students participating in the competition. Leveraging their solid professional expertise, innovative application mindset, and strong team collaboration, the participants distinguished themselves and secured one first prize and two third prizes. These achievements demonstrate the professional caliber and technical prowess of Hong Kong's young skilled talents. Details of the award-winning projects are provided below.

Introduction of projects

ScentSafe
Around 20% of traffic accidents worldwide are linked to drowsy driving, yet this risk is often underestimated. ScentSafe, developed by Engineering students at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Sha Tin), is an AI-powered system that provides real-time driver fatigue monitoring and proactive olfactory intervention, using adaptive, alertness-boosting aromas to help drivers stay awake and reduce accident risk. The system integrates facial-expression analysis with physiological sensing and pairs a compact, vehicle-compatible device with a mobile app to boost driver alertness in real time and deliver timely warnings.

HaloAmigo
The HaloAmigo project was developed by students from HKIIT at IVE (Tuen Mun) who actively refined their design based on feedback collected from elderly home residents.
The solution integrates smart devices, AI, and a dedicated assistive robot to support daily living, with a focus on safety, health, and social connectivity.
With voice-assisted interfaces and a user-friendly mobile app to reduce technological barriers, and an AI-driven robot to support the elderly in their daily lives.

GenTech+
Revolutionize the classroom experience with GenTech+, a cutting-edge online education platform designed to transform how teaching materials are created. By leveraging advanced artificial intelligence, GenTech+ automates the customization of high-quality, innovative, and effective learning resources, tailored specifically to student needs.
Proudly developed by talented students from the Higher Diploma in Software Engineering from HKIIT at IVE (Tuen Mun). Our mission is simple: reduce the administrative burden on teachers. GenTech+ breaks down geographical and time barriers, allowing educators to focus on what matters most—teaching.
