VTC hosts Bhutanese Delegation to Explore Opportunities for Regional Cooperation

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) warmly welcomed a five-member delegation from Bhutan, comprising government officials and representatives from the De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP).  The visit provided a valuable platform for both sides to exchange insights on advancing Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) in their respective regions.

Mr Donald TONG, Executive Director of VTC, welcomed the delegation and highlighted VTC’s leadership in VPET.  Discussions focused on VTC’s strengths in Hospitality, as well as Continuing and Professional Education, while the Bhutanese delegation shared the latest advancements of DSP in Bhutan.  Both parties engaged in constructive dialogue to explore potential collaborations under professional and vocational training initiatives.  Prior to the visit, eight Desuup young chefs from Bhutan underwent and completed a 10-day professional culinary training at VTC’s Chinese Culinary Institute (Pok Fu Lam).  The delegation attended a certificate presentation ceremony, witnessing firsthand how such training enhances the professional skills and career benefits for the chefs.

The delegation subsequently visited IVE (Sha Tin) to gain insights into VTC programme curricula and tour specialised facilities in Child Care, Elderly Services, and Community Services.  The visit has fostered valuable knowledge sharing and strengthened ties between Hong Kong and Bhutan, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in VPET.
