(只提供英文版本)The dual VET system of Switzerland is highly famous for its quality and success, with up to 70% of secondary school students choosing the vocational path. Eager to learn from this reputable system, the VTC International Development Office has been honoured to have Mrs Katia STAMPFLI-FERRAZ, the Deputy Consul General, Consulate General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, to deliver a webinar on "Dual VET – A Success Factor for the Swiss Economy" as part of the IDO Connecting To The World Webinar Series, sharing with VTC staff the Swiss dual-track approach to VET in detail.
Garnered around 120 online audiences, the informative sharing that took place on 19 March 2021 allowed us to understand how the high level of labour market orientation of the Swiss VET has led to the strong economic performance of the Swiss industry and the low level of youth unemployment. One of the key elements of the market-oriented training is the private-public partnership that enabled the successful delivery of the dual-track approach to VET through a combination of theory and practice. With the private sector serving as the primary provider of practical training and playing a driving role in defining and revising training content, it ensures the delivery of highly qualified career entrants for the Swiss economy. The Swiss system sets a successful learning model and inspires us to look for possible advancements in Hong Kong's Vocational and Professional Education and Training model.
Subsequent to the enlightening webinar, Mrs STAMPFLI-FERRAZ visited the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (Chai Wan) where further exchanges and discussion on future collaboration opportunities took place.
