Students' Project Virtual Presentation: Rehabilitation Services in Hong Kong 2022

The Students’ Project Virtual Presentation: Rehabilitation Services in Hong Kong 2022, a signature event of IDO and the Department of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) of IVE (Kwai Chung) was successfully held on 28 Feb 2022. This event provided a platform for HLS students to share their applied research projects under three sub-themes, “Rehabilitation with Fun”, “Current Health Phenomena” and “Rehabilitation with Exercise & Technology” with students from collaborated educational institutes and industrial partners from Hong Kong, Singapore, Guangzhou and Ningbo.

It was a great pleasure to have Ms Eman Liu, Vice Chairman of Huashang Education Group and Founding Chairman of Greater Bay Youth Career Development Association give students an inspiring speech, encouraging them to grasp opportunities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) by equipping themselves and building a solid foundation for their further studies and career development in the region. To further enhance students’ learning outcomes, HLS worked with the Guangzhou Huashang Vocational College (Huashang) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to conduct joint student projects in this academic year. HLS students joined hands with students from Huashang to analyse the emotional status of youngsters in Hong Kong and Guangzhou during the COVID-19 pandemic. As for the joint project with ITE, students conducted a study on the elderly’s acceptance of technology in Singapore and Hong Kong. Students from both sides collected local data and jointly performed data integration and variance analysis, which enriched their multi-disciplinary and professional knowledge.

The event attracted over 500 students, teachers and industrial partners from Hong Kong, Mainland and Singapore. It provided students with a precious opportunity to broaden their global vision, expand their networks, and foster the exchange of knowledge in rehabilitation services. It also enabled them to get well prepared for their further studies and employment despite the pandemic.
