Ideathon Challenge 2022: Hong Kong and Japan Virtual Exchange Camp

The Ideathon Challenge 2022 between the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Kumamoto College (NITK), Japan and the VTC was successfully held in NITK (Kumamoto Campus) and IVE (Tsing Yi) from 25 to 27 August 2022.

The 3 days and 2 nights Virtual Exchange Camp brought together 40 students from BA, ENG and IT Disciplines in Hong Kong and Japan in mixed-countries multi-disciplinary teams to promote innovative thinking, digital skills learning and international exchange through a series of cross-disciplinary thematic activities.  Themed “Innovate for a Smart and Sustainable Campus”, participants from both institutions were facilitated by and engaged in intensive multilateral discussions for idea brainstorming and collaborative working on digital platforms to explore and devise real-life solutions for their campus environments in the joint project sessions.  The programme also featured workshop and sharing by invited professionals from Japan and Hong Kong, including an industrialist from CLP Innovation Enterprises Limited of Hong Kong, thereby enriching students with real-world innovation and sustainability practices and connecting them with global industry and community.  

Apart from the thematic exchange, VTC Globalites and student ambassadors of both institutions designed creative cultural activities which piqued students’ interests about their counterpart’s culture and daily living.  It further strengthened the bonding between students of Hong Kong and Japan with their fond memories in the interactive and fun-filled programme.
