The Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the collaboration across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including Design, Engineering, Health and Life Sciences, Hospitality, and Information Technology, marking a milestone in multidisciplinary cooperation between two institutions.
The MoU was officially signed by Mr. Donald TONG, Executive Director of VTC, and Mr. Peter LAM, Principal & CEO of TP. In line with this spirit of cooperation, both institutions are continuously committed to advancing vocational and professional education and training (VPET), fostering academic exchanges for students and staff, and undertaking collaborative research projects.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Tony TAI, Chairman of VTC, emphasised the significance of this partnership in strengthening ties between VTC and TP. He stated that TP has been a long-standing partner of VTC, with both institutions having engaged in various reciprocal delegation visits, exchange activities, and international conferences over the past few decades. As VTC and TP deepen their academic collaboration, they will elevate initiatives to new heights, embarking on more joint ventures for the younger generation to engage in academic exchanges.
Mr. Peter LAM reiterated TP’s commitment to this partnership and looked forward to outcomes from both institutions that would further enhance joint projects, fostering a mutually beneficial environment for cultivating young talents in Hong Kong and Singapore and creating synergy effects.
Subsequently, the TP delegation led by Mr. Peter LAM visited VTC’s member institutions, including HTI, ICI, CCI, HKIIT, and HKDI, accompanied by VTC's Deputy Executive Directors and Academic Directors. The visit was coupled with insightful discussions on the application of Artificial Intelligence in the educational contexts, where both parties shared their good practices in teaching and learning while exploring the latest developments in the field.
Looking ahead, VTC and TP will jointly organise a professional skills competition to provide students from both regions with opportunities for academic and technical exchanges in response to the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence application.
