VTC Showcases Hong Kong’s Achievements in Vocational Education and Deepens Cooperation with the Mainland
At the launch ceremony, Mr. Jerry KWOK, Senior Assistant Executive Director of the VTC, highlighted that the VTC, as the major provider of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) in Hong Kong, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education in 2023. The agreement aims to promote resource sharing in vocational education, facilitate student and faculty exchanges, advance professional development, and foster collaborative innovation projects within the Greater Bay Area. Mr. KWOK also expressed his gratitude to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education for its support of VTC’s participation in the development of a vocational education park with Greater Bay Area characteristics.
At the event, the VTC presented Hong Kong’s vocational education achievements through thematic exhibition panels. These panels introduced Mainland education authorities, vocational institutions, and media representatives to Hong Kong’s comprehensive vocational education system. A key highlight was the introduction of the "Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme" (VPAS), launched by the Hong Kong SAR Government. The VPAS initiative aims to attract non-local students, including those from the Mainland and other countries or regions, to enrol in eligible two-year full-time Higher Diploma programmes offered by the VTC in designated technical industries. Upon graduation, students can remain in Hong Kong to work in their respective professional fields, contributing as skilled talent to key industries.
