VTC Welcomes Senior Delegation from Shenzhen Municipal Government to Advance VPET Cooperation

On 16 April 2026, Mr CHEN Qing, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Member of CPC Leadership Group of Shenzhen Municipal Government, led a senior delegation to the International Culinary Institute (ICI), a member institution of the VTC, to learn more about the latest developments in Hong Kong's Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the experiences of the VTC in nurturing industry talent.

The delegation was received by Dr Wingco LO, VTC Deputy Chairman, and Ms Florence CHAN, Deputy Executive Director of the VTC, who shared insights into the VTC's strategic directions and its ongoing efforts to cultivate skilled professionals for diverse industries.

During the visit, the delegation toured a range of state-of-the-art training facilities that are designed to replicate real-world industry environments. Mr James YAP, Principal of the Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI), the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) and the International Culinary Institute (ICI), presented an overview of the institutes' signature culinary training programmes and highlighted the achievements in developing talent for the catering and hospitality sectors.

A key highlight of the visit was an interactive dialogue session between the delegation and VTC student representatives who had previously competed in the WorldSkills Competition. The exchange showcased how VPET empowers young talent with diverse learning opportunities and equips them with the practical skills and global perspectives needed to realise their career aspirations.

The visit marked another milestone in strengthening communication and collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the VPET field. Looking ahead, the VTC will continue to foster cross-boundary partnerships and contribute to nurturing high-calibre industry professionals for the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area and beyond.
