What is sub-degree? How is it different from Higher Diploma? Is the VTC Higher Diploma qualification well-recognised?

Sub-degree programmes include programmes leading to Higher Diploma, Associate Degree and Professional Diploma qualifications, and are regarded as higher education programmes. In general, the Higher Diploma puts more emphasis on professional knowledge and practical vocational skills while the Associate Degree focuses more on the liberal studies.

VTC Higher Diploma qualifications are recognised at Level 4 under the Qualifications Framework (or “QF Level 4”) and can be used as a basis for progressing to degree programmes. The Higher Diploma Programmes offered by IVE, HKDI, HKIIT and ICI are widely recognised by local and overseas universities that VTC graduates can generally apply for credit exemptions.
