Collaboration with Different Consulates in Hong Kong, Academic and Professional Sectors

 
Forging closer bonds with Canada

 

In June 2025, VTC partnered with the Consulate General of Canada to Hong Kong and Macao to welcome a delegation from Third Schools (Alberta).  The visit fostered meaningful exchange on education systems, highlighting VTC’s Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET), international curriculum at Youth College (International), and youth development.  The Canadian delegation also shared their best practices, laying a strong foundation for future collaboration.
 

 

 

 
Promoting VPET, VPAS and programmes to foster collaboration with Pakistan


Through close ties with the Pakistan Consulate in Hong Kong, VTC promoted Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET), Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (VPAS), and HKDI’s design and jewellery programmes. 

In December 2024, the Pakistani Consul General and Deputy Consul General visited VTC, leading to a subsequent online meeting with the Pakistan Gems Jewelry Traders and Exporters Association to explore training opportunities for industry practitioners.
 

 
 
 
VTC Partners with Swiss Consulate for Student Industry Attachment Project
 

In October 2024, VTC collaborated with the Consulate General of Switzerland in Hong Kong and Macao to provide practical learning opportunities for VTC students. Over three months, six students from Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKiiT) developed a website for the “Swiss Month” social media project, held from mid-October to November 2024. The students demonstrated professionalism and gained valuable programming experience during the website creation process.

This collaboration is expected to continue over the next year, providing VTC students with further opportunities to engage in meaningful industry projects and enhance their practical skills.

 

 

 
 
 
VTC Spotlights VPET and VPAS at Didacta Asia 2024 and Strengthens Ties with Thai Educational Institutions
 

In October 2024, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) participated in the Didacta Asia Congress and Exhibition in Thailand, themed “A Milestone in Shaping Southeast Asia’s Educational Future.” The event brought together international thought leaders, education officials, and industry partners, offering VTC an opportunity to explore global developments in Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET).

 

Through active engagement with stakeholders from ASEAN organisations, educational institutions, associations, and local communities, VTC gained valuable insights and broadened its global perspective while showcasing Hong Kong's VPET and Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (VPAS). To further its outreach, VTC also visited the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok and connected with Technical and partner institutions, including Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM), Chitralada Technology Institute (CDTI), Rajamangala University of Technology Thayaburi, and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), in Thailand, laying a robust foundation for future collaborations in the ASEAN region.

 
 
 
 
 
2024 French+Gastronomy Programme: Global Outreach to Enhance VTC Student’s Culinary Skills

Sponsored by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao

 

Organised by the French in Normandy, Campus France and esteemed partners, the programme featured master lectures and specialised skill training delivered by gastronomic experts and professionals, including master chefs, chocolatiers, pastry chefs, and agricultural specialists at a renowned FAUCHON school, celebrated for its excellence in French culinary traditions.

 

 

In July 2024, A THEi culinary arts student received a fully sponsored scholarship from the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau to participate in the three-week French+Gastronomy Programme, embarking on a distinctive journey to explore French culture and gastronomy. Beyond these exceptional sessions, participants fully immersed themselves in exclusive experiences at prestigious establishments while exploring the culture of Rouen—the first French city to be designated a “Gastronomic City” by UNESCO— encapsulating France’s rich culinary heritage.

 

Overall, it offered profound insights into academic exploration while empowering participants with their skills. Participating students left with enriched perspectives and a toolkit of skills, ready to embark on future academic and personal endeavors.

 

 

 
 
 
VTC Explores Articulation Collaboration Opportunity with VET Institutions in Australia


VTC collaborated with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Hong Kong to welcome delegations from Bond University of Australia and TasTAFE Tasmania in April 2024 and May 2025 respectively.


These visits facilitated discussions on potential articulation collaboration, focusing on the Pet Care and Wellness curriculum offered by Health and Life Sciences Discipline at IVE (Chai Wan). The exchange of best practices also laid a foundation for future collaboration opportunities.

 

 
 
 
Exploring Regional Collaboration: CIT-University of the Philippines Delegation Visits VTC and its Campuses


In April 2024, a 20-member delegation from the Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) in the Philippines visited THEi (Chai Wan), HKiiT, and IVE (Chai Wan) under the coordination of the Philippines Consulate General in Hong Kong.

 

The visit focused on facilitating academic collaboration in areas such as pedagogy and IT-related curriculum development. During the visit, both sides engaged in in-depth and inspiring discussions, particularly sharing practical experience and professional insights in the fast-evolving era of artificial intelligence.

 

Riding on this momentum, VTC will continue to expand its international partnership network, actively promoting Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme (VPAS) across various regions in Asia, and looking forward to forging closer bonds for educational cooperation and talent development.

 

 
 
 
Strengthening Ties with the Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao


In 2022, students from the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) undertook a distinctive design project to revitalize the outdoor spaces of the residence of the Dutch Consul General. Their innovative proposals were received with high commendation from the Consulate.


Representatives from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China and the Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao visited the Vocational Training Council (VTC) campus to further explore educational and cultural engagement. The following year, the Dutch Consul General personally led a delegation for a return visit, reinforcing the commitment to deepening bilateral ties and fostering future partnership opportunities.
