Programme Aims

The programme aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge in telecommunication infrastructure including mobile / wireless networks, telephone fixed-line networks, broadband optical networks, network security and network management. Practical work in the programme will be based on recognised trade certificates so that skills are of direct relevance to industry practice and new technologies.
 
The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.

Career Prospects

Graduates may be employed as Network Engineers and Administrators in the areas of telecommunication systems / networks installation, maintenance, operation and administration. For the contemporary telecommunication systems, they are also equipped with the software development skills to work for the services implementation. They may also be employed in technical marketing as well as technical support.

The programme is recognised by the Hong Kong Computer Society as satisfying the academic requirements for its Associate Membership.

1. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
2. The revalidation of the programme will be conducted in 2025. The curriculum will be updated if circumstances so warrant.
