Programme Aims

The programme aims to train para-professionals on land surveying and geographic information technology.

To support the Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong, allow students to develop a 3D spatial database and apply spatial data in the innovative development of smart cities.

The programme will also provide language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.

Career Prospects

Graduates may be employed as assistant land surveyors, survey officers (Land / Planning / Engineering / Photogrammetry), technical officers (Cartographic / Reprographic), GIS specialists, GIS consultants, etc., in various government departments, consultants and contractors; or they can become professional land surveyor with relevant bachelor degree qualification and training.

Articulation

Graduates may articulate to the Degree programmes offered by Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi):

  • BSc (Hons) in Green Engineering and Sustainability

Graduates may apply for admission to senior year (Year 3) of relevant Degree programmes offered by local universities and institution, including:

  • BSc (Hons) in Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2 years)
  • BSc (Hons) in in Urban Informatics & Smart Cities offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2 years)

 

Professional Recognition

The programme is accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering Surveyors (HKIES)  

Graduates with relevant work experience and academic qualifications are eligible to pursue becoming land surveying professionals.

 

Note

Some modules of this programme offered by IVE (Sha Tin) would be conducted at IVE (Morrison Hill).
