Programme Aims

The programme aims to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills vital for tourism and event sectors. Students are empowered with a profound understanding of the interconnected facets of the tourism industry, and event planning and operations across various scales for nurturing their readiness to develop a career in these vibrant and ever-evolving sectors. The curriculum remains attuned by incorporating the latest trends, application of technologies, design thinking and sustainability concepts. Also, students have the opportunities to integrate theoretical concepts with their application in the workplace through Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

Career Prospects

Graduates will possess competences to start their careers in different areas of tourism and event businesses such as travel services, attraction operations, travel products and events sales and marketing, event planning and operations.

Articulation

Graduates may pursue relevant accredited Degree programmes offered by local or overseas institutions, e.g.:

  • BSc (Hons) in International Tourism, Hospitality and Events offered by the Northumbria University* in UK

* Applicants should meet the English language requirement set out by the University, i.e. HKDSE English Language at Level 3 or above (with all components at Level 3 or above) / IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 or above (with all components at score 5.5 or above) or equivalent
(Interview may be required for certain programmes)

  1. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
  2. Individual programme module will be jointly operated by the Hospitality and Design discipline for interdisciplinary collaboration.
